  Terrible service. Asked a worker if you any eye fillet he said dunno ask that guy over there , nope haven't got any 3 times been in here defiantly will not shop again here went over to Coles better range food in there oh and I had half a trolley full and I told the girl I'm leaving it here as you don't have a few things in here she just said yeah

  It's Woolworths, so if you live in Australia, you will be familiar with it. I don't know if it's because Woolworths and Coles still have a strong grip, if not a stranglehold on retail grocery, but the service is uniformly bad. Today, for example, I wanted to buy something from the kiosk. But, as is often the case, the person staffing the kiosk was blithely chatting away with a co-worker. This, along with making customers wait while they finish other non-customer focused administrative tasks, is the default level of service.

  The fruit and vegetables aren't fresh considering they claim to be the "fresh food people". The meat in the deli often looks old and dry.

  Older woman at the self service accused me of stealing a drink (which I had just bought prior at another shop) fair enough for her to ask as they do stock this drink but she then grabbed it off of me. Last time I checked you can't just take other people's stuff?? pretty terrible service.

  Once the chat (actually more like flirting) ceased, the staff member, a handsome young man about half my age proceeded to serve me. In so doing, he called me "champ". Twice. I normally let such appellations slide, but he said it with such hubris that I called him on it. I asked if it was a term he used to address others and he said yes. I told him he may wish to reconsider it, as it comes off as condescending and patronising. He disagreed. I pointed out that in the dynamic of "patronising" and "patronised", the "patronising" person does not get to choose whether they are "patronising". This exchange will not affect my grocery shopping, because the choices are too limited for me to boycott. It's just important, I think, to level with people who have become accustomed to such effing terrible service in this country.
